Songs of Our Present: Another Octave performs current favorites

So much to choose from! So little time!  In Songs of Our Present, the women of Another Octave will showcase music created since the year 2000.

Stage and screen will feature prominently, as we perform songs from The Color Purple, Fun Home, The Lord of the Rings, and Waitress. You’ll hear pop and country tunes by singer-songwriters such as Sara Bareilles, Natasha Bedingfield, and Kimberly Perry, as well as jazz pieces, songs reflecting current political realities, and more.

Since its first show in 1990, Another Octave has been engaging audiences around Connecticut and out-of-state with energetic performances and an eclectic repertoire that includes standard concert pieces as well as traditional and contemporary music reflecting women’s lives.

Dutch saxophonist CANDY DULFER is known around the world for her powerful and high-energy concerts.  She’ll be bringing a super band and horn section that is going to bring the house down!  Opening for Candy’s performance is singer and saxophone player Grace Kelly, a 24-year-old winner of the 2016 Annual Downbeat Critics Poll (as a rising star in the alto sax category ) You get a chance to see why she was snagged a spot as a regular on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s band!
