This event is part of the 6th Dimension Festival 2023.
ABOUT THE 6th DIMENSION FESTIVAL
Scheduled from August 26 to October 28, 2023, the 6th Dimension Festival brings Afrofuturism to Connecticut. Curated by the Arts & Culture organization Cultured AF and its founder Juanita Sunday, the festival will take place at various locations in New Haven and Hamden (CT). It will offer a city-wide, multidimensional program– including a wide range of scheduled events from immersive art exhibitions, panels, workshops, conversations, performances, live music, movie screenings, book clubs, dance parties, social gatherings, and interactive experiences.
THE THEME: AFROFUTURISM
The 6th Dimension Festival will explore the theme of Afrofuturism: a cultural aesthetic and movement, addressing topics and concerns of the Black diaspora through the lenses of arts, science, history, philosophy, technology, speculative fiction, and fantasy. Intersectional and empowering, the theme of Afrofuturism allows us to reclaim the past, rethink the present and envision different futures.
