Exhibition On View Now thru Sunday, September 3rd
This exhibition examines the role and importance of “the park” in the formation of communities and the impact of basketball as a cultural medium and its capacity for community building. Contributing artists utilize photography, photo collage, and film. Featured works by Anwulika Anigbo, Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe, Kevin Couliau, Sue Kwon, Hope Mora, Daniel Ramos, Robin Rhode, Tschabalala Self, Paul Anthony Smith, Ashley Tillery, SHAN Wallace and Kim Weston.
Along with the exhibition, a New Haven-based artist, Tschabalala Self, has designed a large-scale, on-court basketball mural in Dixwell’s Goffe Street Park. The park is located one block from NXTHVN, easily accessible by foot or by car, on the corner of Goffe and County Streets.
Student groups are also encouraged to visit this exhibit related to the important role of sports, specifically, basketball, neighborhood parks, and art, and their relationship to community building. Contact us at hello@nxthvn.com to arrange a personalized, mutually convenient time for a group tour.
Gallery Hours: Wednesday thru Sunday, 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. (closed Mondays and Tuesdays)
Free admission.
