March 23 – September 8, 2024
Open Wednesday – Sunday from 10am to 4pm with free parking & admission except Good Friday (Friday, March 29), Holy Saturday (Saturday, March 30), Easter (Sunday, March 31), and Independence Day (Thursday, July 4).
True Presence: The Eucharist in History and Art is a celebration of Christ’s promise of salvation and eternal life through his body and blood. This exhibition was inspired by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops’ National Eucharistic Revival, a three-year celebration that began in 2022 and includes the 10th National Eucharistic Congress in 2024. The exhibition features numerous components connected to the adoration of the Eucharist, including its origins, its appearance and influence in works of art, its celebration and reverence throughout history, and its associated miracles.

________
About the ‘Winks:
The Spizzwinks(?) have been sharing their unique blend of music and humor since 1914. Over the years, our repertoire has grown to include an eclectic range of songs—everything from The Beatles to Marvin Gaye to ABBA to Ed Sheeran. Concerts also include Yale classics and a touch of tongue-in-cheek humor. This winning brand of collegiate a cappella has moved audiences around the world to tears and laughter, with a fan club including Lady Gaga, Joe Biden, and the Vice Premier of China.
The Spizzwinks are a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization that works to spread music education and performance around the world and at home. They provide completely free performances and masterclasses to communities around the world, most recently in Morocco and Myanmar. The ‘Winks also have long-term relationships with local New Haven schools to interact and perform with students in their arts and music programs. Find out more at www.spizzwinks.com or check us out on social media at @spizzwink.

WHEN: Saturday, April 20 | 2:30pm Park clean up | Performance @ 4pm EST (Live stream beginning at 3:30pm EST)
WHERE: Long Wharf Park on Long Wharf Drive New Haven. Free & Open to the Public
Elm City Dance Collective presents
National Water Dance @ Long Wharf Park
Elm City Dance Collective has gathered local artists and community members from the New Haven area to engage in an activism-through-dance project called the National Water Dance. NWD is a collective of dance artists, educators and movers, nationwide organized to raise awareness about critical water issues facing all of us. NWD believes dance belongs in the center of the cultural and political fabric of the country and that Climate Change and Water should be a priority within the nation’s political agenda. The project is about human rights, social justice, sustainability, political power, economics and Art. National Water Dance participants will gather in locations across the country as a national movement choir on April 20, 2024 @ 4pm to create simultaneous performances. The performances are free and open to the public nationwide.
Our location, Long Wharf Park, across from the food trucks showcasing cuisine from around the world on Long Wharf Drive, alongside I-95, brings attention to the industrial shoreline, Long Island Sound, and the pier where the historic “Amistad” schooner is seasonally docked. The site, a nature preserve and Urban Oasis, original home of the Paugussett, Quinnipiac, and Wappinger peoples, will be the land for ECDC’s NWD community to honor and center water awareness through art.
Join us on April 20th at 2:30pm for a park clean up organized by ECDC followed by a live performance at 4pm EST. Can’t make the event in person? The live stream will begin at 3:30 EST with interviews and information about many of the participating organizations as well as environmental issues and a peek into participants’ creative processes. To view the live stream go to: https://www.nwdprojects.org/national-water-dance/.
Elm City Dance Collective (ECDC) is a New Haven based organization that provides a platform for an experiential and collaborative approach to dance creation, education and performance. ECDC is committed to contributing to the presence of dance as an accessible public art. ECDC’s National Water Dance is supported in part by the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.

Hamden Symphony Orchestra will conclude its 62nd season and mark a decade of performances at Hamden’s Memorial Town Hall with its Spring concert, “Discoveries,” on Sunday April 28th at 3:00 PM. This program will feature music composed between 1811 and 1928, spanning from the early Romantic era all the way to the fusion of jazz into symphonic music.
The Orchestra is thrilled to accompany the four talented winners of their 2024 Young Musicians Concerto Competition; Clarinetist Mia Gribbon of Hamden, Violinist Ian Li of Waterford, Violinist Doris Lu of West Hartford and Cellist James Stuber of Wallingford will perform works of Weber, Glazunov, Sarasate and Elgar, respectively.
George Gershwin’s rhapsodic tone poem, “An American in Paris,” highlights nearly every instrument in the Orchestra through the course of its narrative: a massive orchestration employing four different types of saxophones and an expansive array of percussion (taxi horns included) to evoke the frenetic by day and romantic by night vibes of the Parisian streets encountered by its visitor. Rounding out this program is the occasionally boisterous, but always grand, “Academic Festival Overture” of Johannes Brahms.
No tickets are required in advance. A $15 Suggested Donation ($10 Students/Seniors) will be accepted at the door. For more information visit www.hamdensymphony.org or call 203-691-5178.

COME SEE HOW THE WORLD COULD BE.
Welcome to HADESTOWN, where a song can change your fate. Winner of eight 2019 Tony Awards including Best Musical and the 2020 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album, this acclaimed new show from celebrated singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell and innovative director Rachel Chavkin (Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812) is a love story for today… and always.
HADESTOWN intertwines two mythic tales — that of young dreamers Orpheus and Eurydice, and that of King Hades and his wife Persephone — as it invites you on a hell-raising journey to the underworld and back. Mitchell’s beguiling melodies and Chavkin’s poetic imagination pit industry against nature, doubt against faith, and fear against love. Performed by a vibrant ensemble of actors, dancers and singers, HADESTOWN is a haunting and hopeful theatrical experience that grabs you and never lets go.

Do This In Memory of Me
is an unprecedented juried exhibition of sacred art created to draw God’s
people into deeper intimacy with our Lord in the holy Eucharist.
Across the ages, visual arts have turned hearts and
minds towards the sacred. With timeless beauty, sacred arts reach deeper into
the soul than words. They show us what is holy so that we might encounter the
Source of all holiness. Steeped in artistic tradition, this exhibit raises up
images that draw us into the mystery of the Real Presence. Many traditional
methods showcased in this exhibit would be lost if not for devoted sacred
artists who have toiled in isolated spaces around the country to preserve these
ancient techniques.
The Blessed Michael McGivney Pilgrimage Center is
hosting this exhibition organized and curated by St. Edmund’s Sacred Art
Institute, Mystic, Connecticut. Generous support for the exhibit is provided by
the National Eucharistic Congress and the National Eucharistic Revival team.

STOMP is explosive, inventive, provocative, witty, and utterly unique—an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages. The international percussion sensation has garnered armfuls of awards and rave reviews and has appeared on numerous national television shows. The eight-member troupe uses everything but conventional percussion instruments – matchboxes, wooden poles, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters, hubcaps – to fill the stage with magnificent rhythms. Year after year, audiences worldwide keep coming back for more of this pulse-pounding electrifying show. As the Boston Globe says, “If you haven’t seen STOMP, GO! If you have seen it, take someone and share the pleasure!” STOMP. See what all the noise is about.

The Caribbean Diaspora has always had an impactful contingent in various areas of the United States of America.
Caribbean Nationals have been a part of the rich culture of New Haven since the 1900’s or longer. In 2014 under the Distinguished Patronage of Hon. Mayor Toni N. Harp and the City of New Haven we were invited to showcase our rich culture at City Hall. We had approximately 200 people sharing, learning, reminiscing, tasting and just overall having a “gran ole time”.
The celebration has turned into an annual festival named The New Haven Caribbean Heritage Festival to enjoy performances, delicious Caribbean cuisine, beautiful displays of islands and colorful costumes. This year will be the 8th anniversary of the festival, aptly hosted in June which is dubbed National Caribbean American Heritage Month.
This year, we are returning to downtown New Haven on the upper Green, thanks to our partnership with the International Festival of Arts & Ideas.
In true Caribbean Style – FAMILY TIME, MUSIC, DANCING & FOOD.

Craft Expo is one of the most successful and long-running craft shows in America. Over 175 modern makers from across the country will display and sell their fine craft in a variety of media, including Clay, Food, Glass, Leather, Metal and Non-Metal Jewelry, Wearable and Non-Wearable Fiber, Metal, Mixed Media, Painting, Photography, Printmaking, and Wood.
“We are so happy to welcome back our artists and supporters to the
Guilford green this summer for Craft Expo” says Maureen Belden, GAC Executive
Director. “There is great excitement to gather together again and to experience
art and artmaking in person. People tell us one of the greatest parts of their
Craft Expo experience is interacting with the artists and learning more about
their work and creative process. And the artists are also so thankful to be
able to share their work with our visitors. It will be a very positive
experience for everyone involved.”
Popular activities for Craft Expo visitors include a Family Art
Tent for young visitors, silent auction of exhibitor-donated work, live craft
demonstrations by Guilford Art Center faculty and students, and sale of
Guilford Art Center student work. Attendees can enjoy a snack or meal in the
food truck area, which will also feature live musical entertainment throughout
the weekend.
Craft Expo is the Guilford Art Center’s single most important
fundraiser, providing proceeds that support all of its educational and
community programming.
