A250 Celebration with IRIS

IRIS will host America 250 Event, a community celebration recognizing the contributions of immigrants and refugees to Connecticut and the United States, and celebrating 250 years of welcoming immigrants, democratic governance, and civil liberties. Held as part of the nationwide America 250 initiative, the event will bring together community members, civic organizations, artists, advocates, and local partners for a day of learning, civic engagement, culture, and community connection.

The event will feature live entertainment, food vendors, an art exhibit and craft fair, voter registration opportunities, a citizenship test challenge, and a citizen advocacy workshop. Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in the 250 Immigrant Stories Project, an initiative designed to collect and preserve stories that reflect the diverse experiences and contributions of immigrants in Connecticut. The event is free and open to the public and welcomes individuals and families of all backgrounds.
