Atticus Bookstore Cafe 50th Anniversary Celebration

Join Yale University Properties, New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker, and community leaders on Monday, December 15 at 10:30 a.m. at Atticus Bookstore Cafe (1082 Chapel Street, New Haven) to celebrate 50 years of this beloved New Haven institution.

The event will honor owner Charles Negaro Jr., the Negaro family, and staff for five decades of community building, literary culture, and great food. A brief ceremony will be followed by pastries.

Founded in 1975, Atticus evolved from a bookstore into a pioneering bookstore-café, later inspiring the creation of Chabaso Bakery and the opening of Atticus Market. In 2022, Atticus was named the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Family-Owned Small Business of the Year.
