Join the City and the New Haven Preservation Trust to celebrate the listing of Long Wharf Pier on the National Register of Historic Places. Originally constructed in the late seventeenth century, the pier was extended in 1810 using an innovative method of stone construction by William Lanson, a free Black entrepreneur, engineer, and abolitionist. Come learn more about the story of this important maritime structure with a talk by historian Bruce Clouette at 5:30pm, followed by a reception with ice cream on the pier at 6:30pm.
Registration is encouraged.
