| June 13 NHFPL America 250/Juneteenth Celebration on the Green 12–4 p.m., New Haven Green Family activities, performances, drumming, dance, speakers, and America 250 programming. June 14 Community celebration featuring entertainment, fellowship, children’s activities, and recognition of Juneteenth. June 14–21 Features Black-owned restaurants throughout New Haven, including Sandra’s Next Generation Soul Food and other participating eateries. June 17 Kevin Johnson of the Connecticut State Library portrays Revolutionary War soldier Jordan Freeman during this NH250 program honoring Juneteenth. June 19 Features a commemorative walk honoring Lucy and Lois Tritton, performances by the Keepers of the Culture Performing Arts Company, live music, storytelling, drumming, dance, and an outdoor dance party. Witness Stones Explore Wallingford’s Witness Stones through a self-guided walking tour and companion podcast that shares the stories of several enslaved individuals who lived in our community. This Juneteenth experience invites reflection, learning, and remembrance as we honor the full history of our nation. Information will be available on the Wallingford 250 website with instructions for downloading the podcast and map. June 20 Annual parade celebrating freedom, culture, resilience, and unity. 7th Annual Juneteenth Celebration on the Green Recognizing the significance of June 19, 1865, the event will honor freedom, culture, resilience, and unity through music, performances, educational exhibits, food, local vendors, and family activities. Juneteenth Village & Marketplace Black Wall Street communities come alive through family, culture, and collective power. Rooted in Umoja (unity) and Ujamaa (cooperative economics), this vibrant day celebrates intergenerational connection, learning, and shared prosperity. Festival of Culture & Resources Juneteenth Celebration Community festival with performances, resources, vendors, and family programming. June 21 Interactive workshop with a live turntablist, emcee, graffiti artist, and Hip Hop dancer, and a keynote by a Golden Era Hip-Hop pioneer. June 27 Celebrate Juneteenth at the Peabody Features children’s book authors Laura McClam, Ainissa Ramirez, and Jazmi Zanders, a cartooning workshop with Joe Young, and displays highlighting Pan-African cultural traditions. |
